emote emotions

Updated: Apr 11

A poem begins with a lump in the throat: a homesickness or a love sickness. It is reaching-out toward expression: an effort to find fulfilment. A complete poem is one where an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.

-Robert Frost

Feeling vulnerable, sad, guilty, embarrassed, ashamed, miserable, anxious, apprehensive, insecure, worried, afraid, tired/fatigue, helpless, lazy, bored, angry, irritated, hateful, furious and jealous are pointers of *old wounds triggered.

Circumstances, conditions, relationships, possibilities, people are just the echoes of our inner chaos.

Every anxious emotion we run away from is our abandoned/rejected ‘inner children energy’ who’ve been outcast (a part of ourselves) in the past so that we could get on with our daily lives.

When we dare to embrace the spiritual sorrow(Shiva) we’re going through with sweet unconditional surrender(Shakti), the homesick inner-child has at last found its destination – our heart aching with acceptance.

The one & only salve of sadness is sadness itself.

It’s in embodying our vulnerabilities, completely becoming the heartache itself, that we retrieve our lost selves.

The way out is in metamorphosing into the road itself.

In a safe space, cry, wail, howl, rage, stomp, kick, brood, mope, sulk wholeheartedly.

With unconditional self-love, let’s allow our inner-adult to hold sacred space for the prodigal inner-child to just be.

We could also let the energy express itself creatively through meditating, chanting, writing/journaling, yoga, tai chi, playing, running, boxing, dancing, singing, art, cooking, talking to a trusted adult,... the list is varied, unending.

The energy(shakti) guides us to our destined detour...

*old wounds: inter/intrapersonal, familial, gender, ancestral, communal, religious, native, patriarchal/matriarchal, archetypal, abuse/violence/holocast/discrimination, multiple past lives/dimension/space karmic debts
